The Right Royal Wedding Burger Recipe Fit For A King & Queen!

… or to put it another way…

The Kate (steak) And (buffalo) Bill Burger!

From Northampton to Southampton and from Wessex To Essex it’s going to be a right Royal knees up in the UK celebrating the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, with street parties across the land.

With the epic and über weather in the UK at the moment you can be sure that some of the Royal Wedding street parities will be having barbecues… and if that’s the case, why not try my very own recipe ► The Right Royal Wedding Burger Recipe - Fit For A King & Queen!

Ok, ok, so some of you royalists are probably going to give me a real hard time for jumping onto the (gold leafed and horse drawn) band wagon :-) but you know, this burger I’ve put together was and is über deeeeelish and epic nom nom :-)

Besides, what’s more tasteful, a Royal Wedding tea towel or a Royal Wedding Burger? (Pun totally intentional :-)

Anyway, before you get bored with this posting already :-) let’s get on with the recipe shall we? :-)

Ok, here are the ingredients

  • Minced beef (steak)
  • Buns
  • Thousand Island Dressing
  • Lettuce
  • Red Onion (cut into rings)
  • Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese
  • Pickle
  • Bacon (grilled nice and crisp)
  • Bunting optional

To Prepare The Buns
Slice in half through middle so you have a top half and bottom half and place under grill with the insides of the bun facing up.  Place sliced buffalo mozzarella cheese onto the up-facing parts and grill.

Grill The Burgers Using My Special Burger Grilling Method.

  • Start cooking your burger on the highest heat for the shortest amount of time in order to seal your burger.
  • Next, turn the heat down to between 1/3 or 1/2 of the highest heat and cook for longer on this temperature until the meat juices run clear (test by pressing down occasionally on the burger with the spatula / flipper.  Mind you don’t do this too often as your burger needs to retain it’s juices otherwise your finished burger will be too dry.
  • Now turn down the heat to near the lowest temperature to ensure the burger is cooked through evenly.
  • Finally, remove from heat and allow your burgers to rest for a couple or minutes to allow the heat inside to spread evenly throughout.

When your buns have toasted slightly, the buffalo cheese has melted and your burgers are ready, it’s time to build your empire Royal Wedding Burgers.

Starting from the bottom half of your bun, build your burger upwards as follows.

Bottom bun (with melted cheese), Lettuce, Thousand Island Dressing, Burger, Onion Ring(s), Pickle, Bacon, Lettuce, Top Bun.

You could, if you want, slice the bun into three layers and put together a London double decker Royal Wedding Burger; the choice is yours and I’ve tried both methods and they’re both epic.

Anyway, see, what did I tell you?

A Royal Wedding Burger…

Took a trip to Boscombe yesterday and was going to check out an eatery just on the front near the Pier.  The sea air was making me hungry and I wanted to try a burger as it’s ages and ages since I’ve had a burger from a burger chain or from eatery.  I was looking forward to reviewing a burger at this particular eatery.  However the queue of people waiting to get into this particular eatery was just simply too long and so lo and behold I made burgers at home when I got back.
Oh… and fries! :-)
As for my “review” of my own burger?
Easy!
10 out of 10…
… and no queuing!

And yes, that’s a pizza tray I used for the oven chips / fries.  Many thanks to Jo for the tip!  It’ll come in useful next week when I make pizzas too… after all… that’s what it’s for :-)

Saturday night was burger night! #1

I give these burgers a 10 out of 10! All that debate about how often to flip or whether to only flip once?  Well, all the burger peeps have been getting it wrong, believe me.  It’s not how often to flip, it’s knowing how high to have the heat at what stage of the cooking as well.

Yep, as far as I’m concerned, the quest for the perfect burger and the perfect technique ends with me :-)

My own home-made gourmet Turkey Burgers!

Yep, I added a little mashed roasted eggplant / aubergine to the turkey to avoid that dryness and some thyme (not too much) but as a backdrop to the taste of the turkey which shines through once you encourage some moisture into what is usually regarded as a dry, bland meat.

Don’t worry about adding eggplant / aubergine as it’s quite tasteless; it’s the moisture from the roast eggplant / aubergine that’s the secret in imparting its moisture to the turkey meat when it’s grilled and so bringing out the taste of the turkey meat into the burger.

Get the balance right and you get a burger that’s apparently more healthy than a burger made from ground / minced beef.

I think I got the balance right! :-)

One day I might put a book together with all my very own burger recipes.

My new “burger toy” - Having mixed results with it even though I use some oil to try and prevent the meat sticking.  Any tips?
